Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small bakery, a warm blanket on a chilly morning. David, humming softly, shaped dough with practiced ease. The familiar motions were comforting, grounding. Every movement was slow, deliberate.

His wife called his name. A package had arrived. He found an unfamiliar envelope, addressed in his late mother's handwriting. Inside, a note: An apology for sins he'd thought were forgotten, but apparently, had never been.

He read the words, and a deep sigh escaped him. The tension he hadn't realized he was holding in his shoulders melted away. He carefully placed the letter on the counter, the air around him still and quiet, like the eye of a storm. He felt a deep sense of acceptance.
