Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the room as Jasper sat on the floor, surrounded by his art supplies. A notification pinged on his phone, the image of a familiar facade. His childhood home, up for sale. He felt no surge of alarm.

He studied the photos, noting the changes, the renovations. The new owners were doing an excellent job. A calmness settled over him, the kind that came from a creative pursuit. The memories, like brushstrokes, blended into a pleasing whole.

He picked up a brush, dipped it in paint, and turned his attention back to the canvas before him. The house was a memory. The present, a new creation.
