The gentle rhythm of the waves lapping against the shore was the only sound that pierced the tranquility. Clara strolled along the beach, feeling the cool sand between her toes. The vast expanse of the ocean stretched before her, an endless canvas of blues and greens. She inhaled deeply, relishing the salty air and the feeling of complete freedom.

Later, back at their beach house, she was going through a drawer. She was looking for a pen. She found a bank statement. It wasn't one of their bank accounts. It was addressed to her husband, Robert.

She sat on the edge of the bed, feeling unusually calm. Her heart, which had been light and full, now felt quite steady. She looked at the date, and knew it was the anniversary of their wedding. She closed the statement, placing it gently back into the drawer.
