Gemotions

The rain pattered gently against the attic window as Anya mixed her paints. The muted light gave everything a soft glow. She was working on a self-portrait, capturing the feeling of quiet introspection that always came to her when it rained. She dabbed at a canvas, carefully blending the colors, lost in the process.

She heard a burst of laughter from downstairs. Curious, she went down to see what the commotion was about. Her artwork, a collage of her family, was plastered across the front of the local bookstore. The bright colors, once vibrant and private, now seemed garish and exposed. She felt the urge to run, to disappear back into her quiet attic, but she couldn't move.

The bookstore owner was beaming, pointing at the display. Anya simply stood there, feeling the calm slip away.
