Gemotions

He sat on the steps of the old chapel, listening to the chime of the bells, and watching the birds flit and dart through the high branches. The sounds of birdsong, the breeze, the distant chatter created a calming soundscape. He reached for a book of poetry he carried with him everywhere.

He had learned about the end of the university earlier in the day. A dark cloud had passed. He closed the book for a few moments, the words of the poem running through his mind. A calm acceptance began to take root inside of him.

He returned to the poem, and kept reading. The world kept turning.
