The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's face as she sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a gentle pulse against the quiet of the neighborhood. She sipped her tea, the chamomile flavor a balm to her soul. A squirrel, oblivious to her presence, chattered from the oak tree, flicking its tail with agitated energy. Amelia smiled, feeling no disturbance from the animal’s flurry.

Inside, she found the open laptop on the kitchen table, a half-finished manuscript blinking on the screen. Curious, she moved closer. The title read, "The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter." It was Thomas's writing, she knew the quirky way he used words, that way that always made her smile, that never failed to charm her.

Her breath caught as she started reading. The protagonist's mannerisms, the way she loved the ocean, the way she made friends - they were all deeply familiar. A strange warmth spread through her chest, like the sun had reached her insides. This was her story, or at least, a version of it.
