The scent of lavender filled the air as David sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a comforting soundtrack to his thoughts. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the gentle swaying and the sun's warmth. He savored the stillness of the afternoon.

A shadow fell across him. He glanced up to see Ms. Rodriguez, clutching a small gardening trowel. "David," she began, a touch sheepish.

He sat up straighter, smiling. "Yes, Ms. Rodriguez?"

"I was hoping… perhaps… to plant a few sunflowers. I was wondering if I could… if you wouldn't mind me using a portion of your yard? It doesn't need to be much." He took a deep, calming breath. "Please, do," he said, gesturing with a wide wave. "I would be happy to."
