Gemotions

The news had hit Eleanor like a physical blow. Her niece, Clara, had been drawing "Fluffernutter," a creature with rainbow fur and mismatched limbs. Eleanor felt her breath catch. Fluffernutter was her childhood companion, the confidante to her darkest secrets, and a figment of her imagination, nothing more. Or so she had believed.

She retreated to the guest room, the setting sun casting long, ominous shadows across the floor. She curled up in the rocking chair, her body suddenly heavy, as if weighted down. Her head throbbed. Was it possible? How? The questions circled in her mind, a dizzying whirlwind. It made no sense.
