Gemotions

The air thrummed with a low, unsettling vibration. Michael felt it in his teeth. He stared at the ring, his breath catching in his throat. The shop seemed to shrink around him, the walls pressing closer.

He swayed slightly, and had to grab the counter to steady himself. He needed to think, but his mind was a jumble. The familiar shape of the ring, the way it caught the light, ignited a fire inside him, a confusion of anger and despair.

He heard the shopkeeper's voice, distant and muffled, asking if he was alright. He couldn't answer. He was frozen, locked in place by disbelief and a consuming sense of loss.
