"Alright, so that's the basics of the project management software," Mark said, his voice unusually flat. The new guy, a smug-looking fellow named David, scribbled notes in a pristine notebook. Mark's gaze flicked to the overflowing trash can beside his desk, a stark contrast to David's organized workspace. He felt a prickly heat rise in his chest.

He ran a hand through his thinning hair, trying to calm the jitteriness that plagued him. He hadn't slept well in days.
