The weight of the blueprints felt heavy in her hands. “And this is the structural support system,” she said, her voice flat. The new architect, a woman with a sharp gaze, followed her every move with almost unsettling intensity. The blueprints seemed to vibrate in her hands.

She walked through the construction site, the sounds of hammering and machinery echoing around her. She found it hard to breathe, each inhale a struggle. The thought of losing this, the space she had carved out for herself, churned her insides. She stopped, her knees felt like they might give way. She couldn't meet the other woman’s eyes.
