The letter arrived via courier, a sealed envelope bearing the familiar insignia of the Royal Academy. Inside was a single sentence: "Your apprenticeship is concluded." Elias had been preparing to receive his mentor's final evaluation. The words struck him like a blow. His vision blurred.
