The noise, the lights, the sheer exuberance of the wedding celebration - it all began to grate on her nerves. The sight of him across the room was the final straw. It was as if a vacuum had been created within her, sucking all the air from her lungs.

She began to feel lightheaded, as if she were about to faint. She looked around frantically, searching for an escape. She had to get out of this room, away from the prying eyes, away from the unwelcome memories.

She stumbled towards the exit, barely aware of the people she brushed past. The fresh air outside was a welcome relief, but it did little to ease the turmoil inside. She leaned against the wall of the building, gasping for breath, the world tilting precariously.
