The coffee cup, clutched tightly in her hands, trembled, sloshing its contents onto the pristine white tablecloth. It was as if the world had shifted beneath her feet. The diagnostic report, detailing a condition completely foreign to her, lay open on the table.

She picked up her phone to call her therapist and found her hand shaking too much to punch in the number. She couldn't breathe.

She thought of the appointments she made, the treatments she had, the things she thought she knew about herself. All now thrown into doubt. The cafe seemed to become louder, filled with meaningless chatter. She needed air.
