My throat felt constricted as I stepped into the IT department. The air buzzed with the hum of servers and the sterile scent of plastic. I, a librarian, found myself reassigned to the digital archives. The familiar scent of old books and quiet study had been replaced by a chaotic landscape of code and constant updates.

I forced a smile as I was introduced to my new colleagues, their rapid-fire jargon completely foreign to me. I nodded along, understanding nothing, feeling a cold sweat break out on my forehead.
