He stared at his reflection, the image unfamiliar. Chef Ethan had been so sure. The review, though, had stripped away his confidence. "Unoriginal," it accused. "A mimic, not a creator." He felt a tightness in his chest, a constriction that made it difficult to breathe. He ran his hand over his close-cropped hair, finding it unusually damp. He felt the need to get away, to disappear. He thought of his mother, the only person who always believed in him. He grabbed his keys and left.
