Gemotions

The drive back to the city was uneventful; however, as soon as they were outside the front door, it all changed. He found himself unable to move. A tremor ran through his body, so subtle he could barely sense it. It was like his mind had been switched off, and his legs did not want to move. His sister, Jessica, was already standing on the porch, waiting for him to unlock the door.

He felt the metallic tang of fear in his mouth. He placed the key in the lock, and the tumblers clicked. He opened the door, and the familiar scent of old furniture and potpourri hit him, making him want to turn around.

"Are you coming?" Jessica asked. She sounded unusually soft. He nodded, trying to find his voice.
