Gemotions

The world tilted. Sarah felt a peculiar dizziness, a sensation like being on a boat in a turbulent sea. She gripped the cold, hard plastic of the chair, her knuckles white. The letter, crisp and official, lay open on the table, the words – “ineligible,” “reclaimed funds” – burning into her mind. Her carefully planned future, the one she’d built around the scholarship, seemed to crumble before her eyes. She pushed her chair back, the scraping sound echoing unnaturally loud in the quiet library. Her limbs felt heavy, unresponsive. She had to get out, to breathe. She stumbled towards the door, ignoring the curious glances of other students, her vision tunneling as she fought to keep from losing control.
