The musty smell of the storage unit did nothing to soothe David. He held the photo close to his face. His aunt, the pious churchgoer, was photographed in a low-cut dress, laughing and joking with a group of friends. She looked free and happy. It was a stark contrast to the woman who always wore a simple dress and a serious expression.

A knot formed in his stomach. He felt a tremor in his hands, which made it difficult to hold the photo. The walls of the storage unit seemed to close in around him. He needed air. He felt the urgent need to know everything, to question everything. But where would he start? He felt frozen.
