"No, no, no," whispered Chloe, her voice barely audible. Her eyes darted back and forth between the offending text and the name on the screen. She had inadvertently sent a highly critical work email, intended for her closest colleague, to her demanding, and potentially firing-her, boss. The message had been full of sarcasm and a clear lack of respect.

Her palms began to sweat. A knot formed in her stomach, making her feel nauseous. She imagined the aftermath – the reprimand, the potential termination, the awkwardness in the office. This was a career killer. She felt a dizzying pressure in her head, as if her skull was about to crack.

She considered turning off her phone, burying it. Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t see it. But that was childish, she knew. She had to find a way to fix this, to salvage the situation. But where to even begin? The thought paralyzed her.
