Gemotions

The paintings on the wall seemed to sway. She found herself staring at the damage, unable to process what had happened. It was a disaster, right there in front of her.

Her breath came in shallow, rapid pants. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the image. The tree had always been there, a silent sentinel. Now, it was gone.

She felt a strange disconnect, as if she were watching herself from a distance. She took a step toward the window and then stopped. The image of devastation, the chaos of the fallen tree, was too much. She turned and went back to the couch.
