He found them at the office, a vibrant array of orchids, sitting on his desk. He stared at them, his face a mask of bewilderment. No card. Just the flowers. The air in the office suddenly felt thin and strange.

He picked them up, his fingers brushing against the delicate petals. He walked to the window, looking down at the street. He felt a sharp pang of uncertainty, a disquieting uncertainty.

He returned to his desk, carefully placing the orchids on the corner of his desk. He couldn't concentrate on his work. He felt a prickling sensation on his skin, a feeling that someone was watching him.
