Gemotions

A tremor ran through Amelia as she closed the laptop. Her breath hitched. The screen's glow had faded, but the words still swam in her vision. *Amelia's insecurities, her hidden desires, her awful jokes – all laid bare in pixelated prose.* She felt a cold prickle at the back of her neck.

She got up abruptly, her chair scraping against the hardwood floor. Suddenly, the apartment felt too small, the walls closing in. She needed air. The manuscript's title, “The Impeccable Amelia,” mocked her from the desktop wallpaper.

Her fingers fumbled with the locks as she left the apartment, the keys slipping once before she managed to get them into the door. The familiar city sounds seemed distant, muffled.
