Marcus rubbed his temples, the veins throbbing. He found the document on a USB drive plugged into his computer, the file name: “Shadows of Leo.” His gut churned with a mixture of anger and confusion. His husband had written a whole novel about him, but it felt twisted.

He needed space. He needed to get away from these walls that seemed to press in on him. He grabbed his coat, heading out the front door without a word.

The crisp air offered little relief. He walked aimlessly through the park, the fallen leaves crunching beneath his feet with each step, their sound oddly loud.
