The vibrant colors of her painting, "Kaleidoscope Dreams," mocked her from across the crowded beach. Lila felt a sickening lurch in her stomach. A young man, laughing with his friends, had her artwork tattooed across his entire torso.

She felt a strange disorientation, a detachment from her surroundings. The sun felt overwhelmingly bright, the waves crashing seemed deafening. Her breath caught in her throat.

She hugged herself, a futile attempt to regain some sense of control. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn’t come.
