Gemotions

The clutter of the pawn shop seemed to recede, leaving only the silver ring with the tiny diamond. His grandmother's. It was a tangible piece of her, a connection to a past he'd thought he'd lost. A deep sense of disorientation flooded him.

His gaze flickered to the cashier, then back to the ring. He felt disconnected, as if observing himself from a distance. He tried to speak, but his throat seized. He was paralyzed.

He swallowed hard, finally finding his voice, although it was barely above a whisper. "That ring… I need to see that ring." The words felt foreign on his tongue. He had to get it. No matter the cost.
