Gemotions

The email notification pinged, and Amelia nearly jumped out of her skin. A fence. Her pulse hammered against her ribs. She swiveled in her chair, the sudden movement causing a dizzying sensation. She usually loved the way the sunlight streamed through her office window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Now, she felt a sudden sense of confinement.

Her fingers flew across the keyboard, typing a frantic message to the HOA. This wasn't happening, it just wasn't. They couldn't do this. Not to her. She glanced out the window at the empty space where she could imagine her children playing. The potential loss of access to that open area had her breath hitching in her throat.
