The phone dropped from John’s grasp, clattering to the floor. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but he'd heard the entire conversation. His supposed "business partner," Richard, was on the phone, begging for a loan. He was speaking as if he were working at the high-end insurance company. The reality: Richard worked as a salesman at a car dealership.
