Ethan felt a wave of bewilderment. He remembered a different narrative: he had been hesitant, worried about the height and their safety. Mia, however, had been full of ideas and eager to start. He tried to speak, to correct her, but his throat felt constricted. He felt as if the air had been sucked out of the room. He took a step back, the walls seeming to close in.
