Gemotions

"Well, isn't this special," I muttered, the words laced with a bitterness I hadn't realized I still harbored. The name, Jessica Miller, stared back at me, a grinning, airbrushed portrait. I felt a flush of heat rise up my neck.

My hand instinctively hovered over the "Ignore" button, but I found myself frozen. My fingers wouldn't move, as if glued to the mouse. I felt a thrumming behind my eyes.

I stood up abruptly, pulling my chair back with a screech. I paced the room, my mind racing, replaying old scenes. I made a cup of coffee and let it go cold.
