Gemotions

He had seen the pay slip, accidentally left on the printer by the new recruit. The numbers jumped out at him, a stark and brutal reality. His hands began to shake. He felt a sudden, involuntary tremor in his limbs. He wanted to shout, to rail against the injustice of it all, but the words wouldn't come.

He sat back in his chair, feeling utterly depleted. The office, usually a hive of activity, now felt like a suffocating box. The air was thin, making it difficult to breathe. He closed his eyes, willing the feeling to pass.

He opened his eyes and noticed the clock, the slow tick of the second hand mocking him.
