The press conference was a blur of flashing cameras and shouted questions. Clara had envisioned triumph, not this. Not this hollow echo of someone else's achievement. Her legs felt like lead weights, rooted to the spot. The other inventor, a smug man with a perfect smile, stood beside her, taking all the credit for the bio-degradable plastic. Her mouth felt dry, her throat constricted. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn't come. She simply stood there, a statue of disbelief.
