Gemotions

He had seen the email notification flash up on his phone and knew. He had a premonition. He hadn't prepared for the crushing blow. Now he just stared at the screen, the words "Unfortunately, we are unable to..." echoing in his mind.

He let out a shaky breath, the air leaving him in a sudden rush. He slammed his laptop shut, the sound a sharp crack in the silent room. He felt a wave of heat wash over him, followed by a chilling sense of numbness.

He grabbed his coat and keys, the urge to flee overwhelming. He needed to get away, to escape the suffocating confines of his disappointment.
