The notification buzzed, and Alex practically jumped. Mr. Ramirez, his physics teacher, was now connected with him on Facebook. He froze, his gaze fixed on the screen. The world tilted slightly on its axis. He slowly lowered himself to the floor.

He considered everything he had posted. Photos of him playing video games, venting about his parents, and the occasional meme. Did he think it was all as bad as he was sure it was? He found himself mentally running through every post, every comment, analyzing them for potential embarrassment.

He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he wasn't even aware he made. He spent the next hour meticulously going through his profile, changing privacy settings, and deleting anything he remotely felt ashamed of. He felt oddly exhausted.
