I was at the library, studying for my chemistry exam, when my phone vibrated. Mr. Harrison, my chemistry teacher, had requested to connect on LinkedIn. My jaw dropped. It was LinkedIn. The professional platform. My carefully constructed academic and career aspirations, now potentially visible to him.

I went cold. All my online activities were suddenly important, relevant, and in need of careful consideration. I started to wonder if I had seemed too careless with my posts. I replayed all my interactions with Mr. Harrison, searching for any indication that he might take an interest.

I closed my laptop and gathered my books, a sudden urge to flee the library. I needed space to process the situation, to assess the damage. It was like everything had changed. It would never be the same.
