"I...I can't believe this," Sarah stammered, staring at the Dean across the oak desk. Dr. Chen, her advisor, was retiring, leaving her mid-thesis. The air in the room seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. A tremor ran through her, starting in her toes and spreading upwards.
