Gemotions

A wave of dizziness washed over me. I had dedicated my life to playing the guitar, the instrument a constant companion. My music was my soul. My daughter, Lily, had always preferred pop music. Now, she was sitting in my music room, playing a complex solo piece I'd composed years ago, flawlessly. Her fingers danced across the fretboard with a dexterity that rivaled my own, her eyes closed in concentration. "Dad," she said, after completing the piece, her voice calm but determined, "I’m entering the regional competition.” I stumbled backwards.
