David felt a strange sensation, like the world had abruptly stopped. He felt a lightheadedness that made him grip the edge of his chair tightly. His colleague, Emily, was describing her time at Camp Skylark, a summer camp that David had desperately tried to scrub from his memory.

He felt a deep, hollow emptiness open up inside him. His gaze darted around the room, as if searching for an escape. He wanted to scream.
