The note was short, direct, and devastating. "Your incessant piano playing is disruptive." It was taped to her door, a stark white rectangle against the polished wood. Sarah's hands trembled as she pulled it free, the paper crinkling in her grasp. She hadn't touched the piano in months.

She ran her hand through her hair, a nervous gesture. Her breath caught in her throat. The world tilted slightly, the familiar hallway suddenly claustrophobic. She felt her pulse hammering in her ears.
