He was staring at his own reflection when the doorbell rang. It was a woman, clutching a file. He had *Neurofibromatosis type 1*, and so did she. He opened the door. Her face was a patchwork of freckles and blemishes. Both of them had the same condition.

He felt a sudden, cold wave wash over him. His mouth went dry. Her eyes, wide and bewildered, seemed to mirror his own inner turmoil. The file in her hand was a death knell of a kind.

“I… I didn’t know…” she stammered, looking from the file to his face. "I'm just..."
