Gemotions

The roses were at the door, but it wasn't the roses that disturbed her, it was the timing. The last time she received roses, things had gone bad. She knew this was a call back to that time.

She stood frozen, her eyes wide. She looked down and saw her shaky reflection in the glass of the door. The flowers were gorgeous, but they spoke of a history she wanted to forget. She felt an overwhelming sense of foreboding.

She didn't know whether to scream or to run. The silence, the unacknowledged gesture, was the most menacing thing she’d ever encountered. She backed away slowly, as if the flowers themselves held a threat.
