Gemotions

"You didn't tell me," she whispered, the words catching in her throat. Across the table, he sat, looking small, his eyes avoiding hers. The printed copy of the novel, "The Architect's Apprentice," lay between them, unopened. The title alone was enough.

She felt a cold knot tighten in her chest. Everything she'd believed about their relationship, about him, seemed to… unravel. She picked up the book, her fingers tracing the cover, not wanting to open it, terrified of what lay inside.

Her head was reeling. She had to leave, go somewhere, anywhere. Her mind raced, searching for an escape.
