He’d almost missed the email. Now, Leo stood in front of the professor's desk. The report was open on the monitor, highlighting the supposed plagiarized sections. His brows furrowed. He blinked rapidly, then looked up at the professor, a confused expression on his face.

He had reread the accusations several times. He kept finding himself wanting to dismiss the claims, but he knew he couldn't. He had known, after a long night of research, that the ideas were his. He was still sure that he hadn't copied anything. He kept replaying the events in his head, but nothing made sense.

He’d spent weeks working on this project. He knew his own paper like the back of his hand. He took a breath. "Can you show me the source you're referencing?" he asked, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him.
