Gemotions

The air was thick with the scent of freshly cut grass and the murmur of conversation as Miles wandered around the yard sale. He had come along to keep his younger sister company, but he had no intention of buying anything. Then, he spotted it. The bear.

It was placed prominently on a small table. Identical to the one he had loved as a child. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine. He walked closer, his hands shoved into his pockets. The eyes… the nose… the way the fur was worn… it was all the same. The seller, a middle-aged man with a weary expression, watched him with a knowing look. “Five bucks,” he said, his voice flat. Miles looked down at the bear, and then back at the man.
