The new house was supposed to be a fresh start. Liam, however, felt a growing sense of unease as he explored the labyrinthine hallways of the old Victorian. The rumors about the house's history, the whispered tales of strange occurrences, had been dismissed. But now, he stood in the master bedroom, staring at a slightly misaligned section of the wall paneling.

He’d already checked the other rooms, noting the odd angles and crooked floors. Now, here, in the bedroom, it seemed the wall paneling was just slightly… off. His wife, Sarah, thought he was being overly cautious. He found it difficult to trust the structural integrity of this house.

He ran his hand along the paneling, searching for a seam, a catch. He found nothing, but a faint draft brushed his fingers. He pressed harder, and a section of the wall clicked inwards. He took a step back, heart pounding.

A dark opening gaped in the wall. He reached for the light switch, his hand shaking slightly. The house was playing tricks on him.
