Gemotions

He picked up the book, “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” and started to read, but a folded piece of paper caught his attention. He paused. He eyed the worn paper. Another love letter. He wasn’t surprised. He knew his new hobby was not going to be a good one, but he had hoped for something else.

He started reading. The words were familiar. Regret, longing, and then, hope. He felt a sharp pang of annoyance. He almost stopped reading, but forced himself to continue. He finished. His face remained expressionless. He closed the book and put it back on the shelf. *What a waste,* he thought.
