The way Liam spoke about his family was off. He had never met his aunt, as she lived in another state. Today, he was talking about her in vivid detail, referencing a specific incident that he knew nothing about until writing about it in the journal. It was a small detail, but it was just enough to make a shadow settle over his mood.

He sat back in his chair, trying to appear nonchalant while he pretended to be studying. His roommate, Alex, was sitting on his bed, eyes averted. His gut told him this was too much. A wave of anger washed over him, followed by a surge of unease.
