Gemotions

The thought crossed my mind, as it often did these days, as I saw the owner in my yard again. I kept an eye on Buddy, who was happily sniffing the flowers. I should just start locking my own gate. I mean, the frequency of his "escapes" was getting ridiculous.

"I don't know how he does it!" Mr. Peterson exclaimed, his voice laced with a strange kind of glee. He was always so upbeat about it. Was he even trying to stop the dog from leaving?

I ran my hand across the smooth, unbroken surface of the fence. "Maybe you should get a new fence?" I suggested, more out of obligation than anything else. He just laughed.
