The locker room felt colder than usual. He stood at the door, the chill seeping into his bones. Coach Evans had pulled him aside. He had a sinking feeling in his stomach.

Coach Evans sat at his desk, his expression unreadable. He began to speak, his voice flat and monotone. He talked about "new opportunities" and "a fresh start." He couldn't believe his ears.

He stared at a crack in the wall, focusing on it intently. He listened to the recitation of vague phrases. He knew exactly what this was about. He felt the anger building, a slow burn in his chest. He clenched his fists, trying to restrain himself.
