Gemotions

The note was scrawled on a yellow sticky, taped to her front door. "Loud music last night. Please be mindful." Sarah read it, a slight twitch in her left eye. She'd been in bed by ten, she was certain of it.

She glanced at the house across the way, a neat little place belonging to Mr. Henderson. He was always complaining about something. The dog barking. The leaves in the yard. Now, the music.

She walked into her living room, every bone in her body telling her the accusation was ridiculous. Nothing was out of place. No errant speakers. She picked up the remote, clicked on the TV, and turned up the volume, just to test her ears. She heard nothing out of the ordinary.
